Welcome to Victoria Club Tread!

Please see the meetup site for a list of all our upcoming events.

Victoria Club Tread has been on the Vancouver Island hiking scene for over 35 years and is likely the most active club on the island.  Prospective members may participate in one hike with the club before being required to join and pay the annual dues.

Our day-hiking and walking events on the south Island run year round. In the winter months we also have ski trips to Mt. Washington, and cross-country skiing closer to Victoria as weather permits. From April to October you can expect hiking, and cycling events in the Cowichan Valley, the Gulf Islands and the San Juans along with weekend and multi-day trips further afield. The Olympic Peninsula is a popular destination along with Mt Baker and Mount Rainier, with back-packing, car-camping and lodge rental. Longer trips have seen Club Treaders as far away as the Rocky Mountains, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, the Grand Canyon and many other National Parks in Canada and the US. We don't limit ourselves to North America either; the Club has held hiking trips in Patagonia, Britain, Italy, Spain and France.

Event organizers are encouraged to mentor other members in order to expand the pool of hike leaders. This website has a wealth of information for interested members, with guidelines for leading all kinds of events.  All persons who hike with Victoria Club Tread must sign a waiver and release of liability. All persons hiking with the club must be aware that they are responsible for their own safety at all times.

We are a non-profit society with a 7-member executive.  The executive meets 4-times per year and the members are offered a social / planning meeting 4-times per year also.  We have full financial recording and reporting as per the Societies Act and our minutes are available to all members.
