The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm.
No amendments to the agenda.
Chris thanked Judy Brown for looking after the refreshments this evening.
MSC - to accept the previous minutes as posted on the web.
Correspondence:
We got a response from the Ministry of Water, Land and Air Protection re: our letter protesting development of BC Parks. MSC to receive and file (attached to the Aug Exec Mtg minutes).
Executive Reports
- President: Chris Vardy

- We have created a Budget committee. We hope that by the next planning meeting we can propose a budget for next year.
- The executive is reviewing the constitution to see if it needs changes to bring it up to date and that it is appropriate.
- Vice President: Leo Vezina

- Leo was at the Capital Regional District's meeting about the New Plan for Parks. It was well attended with lots of different groups represented. The region will publish a new plan in due course.
- Treasurer: Fred Trudell

- We have $7674.72 total. $6043.54 is in ING and $1631.18 in Coast Capital. We will need to review our insurance soon. It is due in January and we are not too impressed with Capri, our current carrier. MSC to accept.

- Please use the forms on-line to plan events. This saves Dean 8 - 10 hours typing time. Submit before the meeting.

- As of August 1 we had 184 members which includes 30 new members. This is 20 more that this time last year.
- Outdoor Event Coordinator: Tom Gore

- We have had a great year so far. It wasn't too hot and there were no forest closures. We have had 146 events so far this year, which involved 1274 members. There were 100 hikes, 12 backpacks, 10 walks, 9 bicycle events, 2 picnics, 2 scavenger/question walks, 1 dinner and 1 ski event. The 3 most popular were Tom's Mt. Work, Pam's Ruckle Park and Leo's Mt. Finlayson. The picnic was attended by 39 people.

- The plans for the Christmas Party are moving along.

- Our schedules are very popular and go like hotcakes.
- Webmaster: Mike Motek

- There is a form on the web for hike submissions. Mike wants to continue upgrading the site slowly. There is a memorial page section. Email Mike with info or pictures of a Club Member who has died.
- There is a good book members might like to look at. It is called, "Handbook of the Canadian Rockies" by Dan Gadd.
- There is one members may wish to avoid as it describes routes that are beyond the capabilities of most members. It is called "Ridge Walks in the Rockies".

- If anyone is planning on bringing a pet on a hike, (or a small child, parent or other relative) tell the coordinator.
- Gas is now .06 and if it goes over $1.20, it will go to .07.
- Russell's Club Bread meeting is 2 weeks from now.
- Russell is nominations chair for the next meeting's elections. Contact him if you wish to nominate or be nominated.

The date of the next meeting is November 23. It is the elections that night.
Please bring photos, brochures, books, articles to the meetings to show people. It makes the meetings more interesting.
Miscellaneous - "The Great Walk" at Cowichan Lake is a 56 km walk on Sept 17 this year.
